Verifiable invoice
This invoice was issued under Veri*Factu
Its billing record was sent to the Spanish Tax Agency the moment it was issued, carrying a digital fingerprint chained to the previous invoice.
What it means for you as the recipient
- RegisteredThe record was filed with the tax agency as the invoice was issued, not afterwards.
- Tamper-evidentEach record carries a hash chained to the one before it. Altering an issued invoice breaks the chain and shows.
- CheckableThe tax agency keeps a record of it, so you can confirm the invoice in your hand matches what its systems hold.
How to verify it with the tax agency
The check is performed by the tax agency, not by this page. You need four details, all printed on the invoice itself:
- Issuer's tax ID (NIF)
- Invoice number and series
- Date of issue
- Total amount
With those, use the invoice lookup on the tax agency's electronic office or its free Veri*Factu app. The agency itself recommends the app for a more secure check.
What Veri*Factu is
It is Spain's verifiable invoicing regime. Billing software must create a record for every invoice, chain it to the previous one with a digital fingerprint and — in Veri*Factu mode — send it to the tax agency immediately. The point is that an issued invoice cannot be changed or deleted without leaving a trace.
The rules are set by Real Decreto 1007/2023, with technical detail in Orden HAC/1177/2024.
Compliance timeline
| Who | From |
|---|---|
| Billing-software makers and distributors | July 2025 |
| Companies (corporate income tax payers) | 1 Jan 2027 |
| Self-employed and all others | 1 Jul 2027 |
Who has to comply?
Businesses and professionals who issue invoices using billing software. Some are out of scope — notably those already reporting through the SII real-time VAT ledger system. If you are not sure which group you fall into or when your deadline lands, ask before 2027: adapting is straightforward with time and expensive in a hurry.

We're an AI engineering company: we automate real work in settings where the output gets audited. Veri*Factu-compliant invoicing is one of the systems we've built, not the whole of what we do.
